Like mentioned in the thread Knowledge Seeker linked topic #32992, I don't think gown and ballgown are different enough to warrant being separate tags. One of them should be aliased to the other.

This is what I'm saying. An implication won't solve anything, as these are functionally the same tag.
Between gown, evening gown, ball gown, princess dress, and formal clothes+dress, we have multiple tags for different types of formal dresses, but it's not clear how to distinguish them. We do need some distinction between the kind of big round dress that Cinderella wears versus other kinds of formal dresses.

My understanding is that the difference between gown and evening gown is the silhouette. Gown is meant to be used for the full length, big poofed out style dresses like Cinderella's. Then evening gown is intended for long formal dresses with a sleeker, more form-fitting silhouette. And for formal dresses that are on the shorter side, there is cocktail dress.
princess dress I personally think should be deprecated and the posts gardened out into one of those three tags.
