Edit
Jimiko (地味子, lit. "sober" or "quiet girl") is a term used to describe a female character with a plain (not necessarily homely), mousy, or unassuming appearance. Their personalities and demeanors are often similarly reserved, shy, or serious.
They frequently fulfill the niche of female "geek" and "nerd" characters: model students, bookworms, and otaku. In Japanese high school settings, if they are outgoing enough, they are a popular choice for class rep and the student council.
Glasses, messy or unkempt hair, thick eyebrows, twintails or braids, freckles and baggy eyes can all often complete the look.
