The original identity of Edogawa Conan, Shin'ichi is a high-school detective who was forced to take a poison that should have killed him, but unexpectedly shrunk him into a child. He secretly pursues the Black Organization that caused this in order to heal his deformity and to bring them to justice. There are occasions when Shin'ichi returns to his regular age in order to fool his childhood friend Mouri Ran so she doesn't think he's either dead or is Conan.
