A species of humanoid cephalopods in the Splatoon series that can transform into squids and back to their humanoid form at will.
The difference between Inklings and Octolings is that Inklings have pointy ears and a black mask-like line that connects their eyes, while Octolings don't.
Inklings do not usually have cephalopod eyes despite being based off squid. Splatoon reserves those for Octolings, particularly the named Idol Octolings. Inklings have suction cups on the inside of their tentacle hair, while Octolings have theirs on the outside.
