I don't even follow the VTuber scene at all, yet this is the 3rd milestone GET (next to post #5000000 and post #8000000) featuring a VTuber. The system really loves their virtual youtuber waifus, eh?
Some other interesting tidbits:
- Only one milestone hasn't featured humans, humanoids, or characters at all (post #4000000) - Two have been posts from Western artists (post #1000000, post #4000000) - Two have featured characters from mobile games (post #7000000, post #9000000) - Touhou has to date yet to snatch a milestone (other than post #999999 with the 99 Cirnos!). Kancolle did at least got one (post #2000000). No other big franchise (anime, manga, games, etc) have been featured on milestones to date, unless you count Western copyrights, then the honor goes to that Scooby-Doo's hot Velma at post #1000000! - In fact, 3 milestones were snatched by original characters/designs not tied to any copyright at all (post #3000000, post #4000000 and post #6000000)
The first GET I witnessed during my time here was the 4 millionth post in 2020. In 1/3 the time the post count has since more than doubled. I am reminded of how folding a piece of paper 42 times will reach the moon, but folding it 41 times would only get you halfway there.
Not long from now we will see millions of posts per day, and in a shorter interval from then per second, and a few ahs and ums after that there will be more anime girls here than there are grains of sand in the earth their lissome feet are standing on, and then more than there are stars in the sky, the same stars in the sky the caveman who carved the disk meant to resemble female genitalia marveled at in amazement. We've come a long way since then, and if there is one thing I am grateful to the cruel randomness of the universe for it is for it to have led to this moment where I am able to do the same to Danbooru.
And so we hit the 10M milestone. Damn, feels like we be hitting them every few months lately honestly, but I'm happy we hit this big milestone. Cheers to another 10M in the future!

The complaints about the GET being a virtual youtuber actually got me curious so I've been scraping some data to check the copyright numbers. This is all from the range id:9000000..10000000: Note that this dataset is a snapshot, so there might have been some slight changes since.
There are a total of 998836 valid posts in this range. The other IDs were permadeleted. People have added 1419216 copyright tags to all these posts.
Putting the Top 10 against the whole collection of 998836 posts in a more visual way results in:
That said, if we look at the count of virtual youtuber which is 73505, it would slip right into second place, right behind original which is still almost double in size.
TL;DR Between 9M and 10M
The largest copyright tag is original which accounts for 11,96%, followed by Blue Archive (6,38%) and Touhou (5,33%)
Hololive accounts for 3,48% of all posts and virtual youtuber posts account for 7,36% of all posts.
Thanks for the data. Crazy how such new IPs like BA or VTubers have taken over such a significant fraction of the database. I think that's indicitive of how popular Danbooru has gotten since those IPs came out, moreso than how popular those IPs have gotten.
Also nice to know that we've only lost like 3000 posts after the big AI panic last year. I thought it would have been way more.
Today I learn how much Nikki art I've uploaded over the past year or so, when it turns out I uploaded enough for it to make the list lol. That's one an exception not part of the rule lol.
