I would say the devs still play a important role as they are the ones keeping running the game and making live events and collabs, the JP scene is very solid for a 12 years old fandom.
Someday KC will EoS and it will have lasted literally over 10 times as long as its intended lifespan and most gachas for that matter. It's perfectly fine for things to end.

Then again it's mainly the community that giving the dev a reason to keep the server up, if not for the support and dedication and interest that people still have for the game after years , even I still staying with the game after almost 6 years. Yeah , it's definitely the community.
