It happens. I've spent an hour trying to find the footage of the F-14 pilot that managed to catch a wire midair during wave-off, dragging the aircraft to a standstill and dropping it straight onto the deck, smashing the pilot's face through his helmet. It seems to have vanished except for the Fighter Fling videos, but I'm too tired to dig it out of them.
