To be more specific, you must kill ALL the chaos bugs in that side tunnel after completing the boss battle in demon ruins where he helps. There are nine of em.

Shouldn't it be before I kill the Bed of Chaos? I went to the side tunnel after killing it and Solaire went crazy anyway. Do you mean I need to open the shortcut to Izalith to kill all the bugs, then kill the boss?

You should probably do it before the demon centipede, i believe once you kill all 9 of the chaos bugs once, you're safe to complete the full demon ruins without solaire getting brain slugged by one, since the one that drops the sunlight maggot disappears forever.
