    I had only read some chapters of the manga, but in what I had read there wasn't really enough evidence presented to run counter to the initial claims of the character's gender when the character was first introduced. I don't know how they do it in the anime, but anime adaptions also typically tend to make more hyperactive and exaggerate character personalities, and they also commonly don't bother to really conceal reverse traps.
