It's a parody of that infamous scene from the extreme gambling manga Kaiji where the villain Yukio Tonegawa was forced to do a yaki-dogeza (prostration on a burning hot iron plate) to beg forgiveness from his supreme bastard of a boss, Kazutaka Hyoudou, for failing him by losing to the title character. Tonegawa ended up badly burning both his hands and his forehead as a result.
