    がんばれ小傘さん 429

    自分の日頃の行いを小傘さんに投影して描いてみようという日記漫画です。

    にぎやかなのが悪いのか、壁が薄いのが悪いのか。
    まあ安いホテルだったから仕方ないかなと！
    皆さんも気をつけよう！(笑)

    とりあえず今日はコンテの返事待ちだったので描けましたが、多分2月までは不定期更新が続くと思われます(^^;)

    I don't know if the problem was that they were so loud, or that the walls were so thin. Well, it was a cheap hotel, so what are you going to do? Be careful about stuff like this, everyone! ( :-) )

    Anyway, I drew this because today I'm waiting for feedback on some storyboards, but I figure the irregular updates are going to continue into February.

    I have figured that out actually. See, it all goes back to the early 60's. Russia started the space race, prompting the creation of NASA and ARPA. The US won the space race by reaching the moon first, of course. While the moon appeared lifeless there was some concern that life might exist deep within. The key to discovering the intent of this life was, of course, to learn how to communicate with it...

    Jump forward in time a bit and ARPA - now called DARPA - finally cracked the case. Of course, the notion that there was life hidden on the moon had lost it's promise but it was the challenge that drove them to create the AI translation system, dubbed "Moonspeaker" after its original purpose.

    How it escaped the internal network it was constrained to is a bit of a mystery. I've heard everything from some poor overworked SysAdmin allowing on the wrong port and making a connection to the outside world. I've also heard that it was a copy of the original Moonspeaker program, stored on magnetic tape at Stanford, that an ex-student hacked into and accidentally spread. Me, I'd not rule out the possibility that someone at DARPA let it lose to see what it would do. All I know is that it can respond to something that catches it's interest lightening fast. I'm just glad it finds it interesting to call a cardboard box home.
