That chop to the neck... Did Sanae learn to fight by watching "Star Trek"?

Funny thing, the Vulcan Nerve Pinch actually has a chance of working in real life. There's a cluster of baroreceptors near the base of the neck that monitor blood pressure. Pinch that cluster, and it sends an overpressure signal, causing the heart to slow down drastically, leading unconsciousness due to insufficient blood supply to the brain.

What Sanaewife does here, however, is a strike to the vagus nerve, which enervates the entire thoracic cavity, heart included. Here, one of the ganglia on the nerve acts to slow down the heart when fired. Striking the nerve may produce any number of effects, from intestinal disturbance through nausea to sudden bradycardia, which can and will lead to unconsciousness.

This is war, I tell you! War between Sanae-san and Kogasa-san!

"I'll be back to buy some after I make my rounds of the building," I said as I left the store, and when I came back after making a lap of the place, they were amazed: "You really did!" :-)

The strawberry daifuku were most delectable! I'll consider what happens later when it's later! I'm sorry, Sanae-san!

That's just pretending to apologize! (by the Princess)

Reader-added tags include "Fool! That one's the real body!", "Kogasa-san:'Just as planned.'", and "The real body did the work".

And for today's poll, once again, we have:

I want to eat...I want to eat...!
    • Daifuku
    • Ohagi
    • Dango
    • Monaka
    • Boobies

Daifuku: large rice balls stuffed with bean jam; ohagi: rice balls coated with sweet red beans, soy flour or sesame; dango: dumplings; monaka: wafer cakes filled with bean jam

I share an apartment with two medical students and one student of psychology. I pick up things fast. And the anatomy textbooks can make for interesting reading, as long as you don't have to take exams from it. :D

As for the neck massage, given your nickname, I don't think there's any danger of that happening... :D

I've once done this sort of thing on an annoying boy (who shoved my glasses on my face twice), but the pressure point was more between the shoulder and the neck.

He didn't fell unconscious, but his body just lost the strength and slowly fell onto the ground. He didn't even reacted against the pinching maneuver...

From that day he jolts in a defensive position every time I lift my hand in his direction, even if it is to greet him (that was about 5 years ago).

I was actually referring to the neck-chop that Kirk tends to use to incapacitate people (and which, judging by later series, became part of the standard training at Starfleet Academy).

Odd. I've always remembered Kirk incapacitating most of his opponents by punching them square in the face.
