Flandre Scarlet, I confidently can say in sync with many other Touhou fans, was what got me into the Project. But it wasn't the MacRoll - I only found that later and went, what the heck is this mockery of an awesome boss theme?

No, it was the Alstroemeria Bad Apple!! remix and its Shadow Art PV. When I first saw it at Animania 2010 (best thing there - it sucked, sadly, it's a dead festival compared to the others), and saw Flandre in the first verse, I immediately thought, just who is that baddass kid with the crystal wings and the grin?? After looking her up and finding more about the characters and doujin music, I've become quite addicted.

Flandre is the Colourful Joker in my project of a deck of 54 playing cards featuring TH characters. Thus, the imagery of the suits in her design and the wrought iron of the BG. And the cards in her hand. Taboo, Four of a Kind, anyone? I loved playing Big 2 during highschool, so that's really where this random idea came from.

Before I put those cards there, it looked like she was doing a Ryuhou pose (only s-CRY-ed fans will know the hell I'm on about ... Nick / Dash, I'm looking at you!). Got me thinking, this is her Alter perhaps? Or if you prefer Bleach, call it a Shikai. =p (Razz) Or call it what it is: a mystyle redesign of her wings.

Was inspired to do this after I discovered the awesome EastNewSound remix of her theme, sung by Nayuta: [link]
Was listening to this [link] whilst finishing it off, however, which probably inspired the moonlit BG with its sweeping, nightlike feel (I had a checkerboard instead before, lol YES another one, I was out of ideas >,<).

I'm a little sad that it feels somehow unfinished, and not as good as I wanted it to be. But, I've been at it for far too long, and need to move onto something else. Or revise for exams.

Finally, yes, those things are magical jetpacks on her back. Not sure how many other charas I draw as cards will have them too, but Marisa, a.k.a. the Monochrome Joker, will definitely have some.

Flandre Scarlet belongs to ZUN / Team Shanghai Alice (the same guy, go figure).
