Some people cut the chocolate or other ingredients before re-shaping them in the desired form. But yeah, you still need to be a klutz to cut yourself in this case.

I like how Cirno's "exchange" never included the thought that she might give Dai some chocolates... Poor Dai. (And shouldn't Remi/Sakuya have an exchange, as well?)

Well it's also one of the oldest cliche's ever. I've lost count how many times in manga/anime where the clutzy girl is full of wrapped up bandages to give to the main character.
