What is this "Raising Project"? The original ending of the anime makes it seem like everyone was just trying to make Shinji stop being emo by blowing trillions of dollars on robots and angels. Although I realize that the artistic integrity and whatnot is better in the real ending depicted in The End of Evangelion, I still can't help but like the original ending because it ends on a happy note and not extremely depressing.
