I think the countdown is scarier.

In short, there's a limit to how pissed off she'll get, and it is not a very pretty sight.

Given that she's a buddhist, making her angry requires you to do a lot of stuff. Like badmouthing the shrine, or deceiving her, kinda like Kyouko did.
To see her Oni face, I guess you need to do something drastic. Like defecating all other the place, spitting at her followers' faces, burning the garden, pissing in the graveyard. Something like that.
