Depends on how you look at it. He went against literally thousands of Shinra grunts and SOLDIERS and a couple of helicopters, killing everyone but three grunts and a heli. Just for the sake of protecting Cloud.

Despecified. And no, we can't.

Nope. SOLDIERs normally have a generic long sword. Zack starts out with one, and keeps using it even after he's promoted to 1st Class, but as the game (Crisis Core) progresses, he is forced to kill Angeal, his mentor and the original owner of the Buster Sword. After that he gains the sword.
