I'm gonna take a wild guess that Berserk Ryuuko was supposed to appear in more episodes but she scared the hell out the of artists, animators, and the preview audiences the first time.
I think it would be cool if an apparition of this Ryuuko appears as a phantom or something and it fights the real Ryuuko, where she must overcome her fear of this form to defeat it.
