please correct me if i'm wrong, but i suppose this pict tells about the midway landing,
On 5 june 1942, in preparation for Japanese landing at Midway Island, the cru div 7 (mogami class) was within torpedo range of the uss Tambor, while avoiding collision, mikuma was rammed by mogami, and eventually sunk the following day (hence the number 5 6 1942 on the teddy bear) however suzuya avioded safely (hence the paper scooper/poi).

@ the note about 5/6 discrepancy: Remember, Japan's timezone is well a dozen hours ahead of America's. What would be 6th in Japan would be the 5th to America, typically.
