Did you know that Internet Explorer uses various techniques to help overcome the effects of a slow network and make web browsing feel super fast and responsive? (≡^▽^≡)

★ Page Prediction: IE11 can predict where you will go next and load that page ahead of time, making navigation nearly instantaneous!

★ Preload: Developers can use standardized markup on their web pages to tell IE11 which page to load next, resulting in even more performance improvements!

★ Prefetch: IE11 can also prefetch DNS entries and resources like JavaScript/CSS files used across an entire site, to speed up your web browsing even more!

Gotta run. See you again soon! Nin Nin Nin!! ❤

Also makes me wonder how much CPU and network time will be wasted on loading predicted pages that you don't end up visiting.

There was an ad for Google Chrome, with Hatsune Miku in it
Since then, I use Chrome. All other arguments are invalid. lol...

especially on a site like danbooru where the overwhelming majority of pages contain large images

Well, that can go horribly, horribly wrong if you use the same browser for both work and recreational use.

If she's prefetching the pages, that's more like she guessed all the possible questions he'd ask, and then throw out all the answers as potshots.

Plus preloading and prefetch is only good if you're browsing static pages (>static web, >2014). Modern web apps where the next page is still processed on the spot can cause that to either be utterly useless, or horribly break the said web app.

EDIT: Nevertheless, as a web developer, this is intruiguing at least.
