If it were the cannons I could understand, but I can't really get why his body would get backlash from using Tenryuu's sword. Unless all the girl's weapons are supposed to weigh tons or something. Which makes him even more badass.

Probably weighing near a ton, combined with the tense situation and the speed on how fast he swing that sword.

A fine theory but I have doubts if the sword weighs alot since he was able to slightly pick it up before his swords aura kicked in in the previous pages.

I'm just gonna chalk it up to some sort of "Magic" backlash that regular humans just aren't allowed to use ship girl weapons.

I'd call it more of an affinity/interference that extends even to each other by way of class restrictions. Then again, her sword is more an accessory than equipment so whatever.

I know I pointed it out on an earlier post, but this last arc confirms it. Maibara has by far the highest number of appearances besides the Admiral. Combine that with his newly revealed OP skills, and he's definitely main character status at this point.

probably not the sword that matters. the adrenalin effect has gone off, sometimes when in a pinch ppl tends to do outrageous things that out of their daily life that took a lot strain on physic and mental when they recall afterward what they did

In the real world, even the biggest two-handed swords used in actual combat didn't weigh much more than five pounds. If that sword (which is styled more like a katana) were, say, 10-15 pounds, it'd be light enough for him to merely pick up and carry, but still cause incredible strain when he tried to actually use it as a weapon (and one-handed at that).

Did he just enter another "to be defeated" list?
