Part of the reason with Yuubari rejecting the seaplanes is reflected in her game stats. While light cruisers typically have a 1 plane/slot air wing capacity, Yuubari has 0 air wing capability.

Also HISTORICALLY, she never carries one.

I love that the JMSDF named the two ships in a class of Helicopter Destroyers after their old Aviation Battleships.

EDIT: Didn't look at the images, they're Helicopter CARRIERS! The JMSDF just won't use the word "carrier" to be politically correct.
