If I'm understanding this, Mogami's daughter is JDS Mogami (DE-212) - an Isuzu-class destroyer escort from the 1960s. The artist seems to be establishing that the children of ship-girls can represent non-active ships, seeing as how this little Mogami's counterpart was decommissioned in 1991.

So... JDS Yubari (DE-227) confirmed for Yuubari's baby..?

The shipgirls live in such a happy and perfect world, where they can get married so easily it's almost amazing. It's a shame that we don't get to see any fucked up marriages.

I would at least expect the Fusou sister's, Taihou or Mutsu's marriage to be in shambles.

Oh wow, I missed that. Yeah, Mutsu's got it hard with her bad luck boyfriends and seems like her daughter got Osaka's disease.
If Mutsu's is that bad I wonder what Taihou's would be like.

Also...weird that shipgirls only give birth to girls. Huh...strange...

Ships have always been discussed with female pronouns ever since the beginning of sailing. it's some sort of good luck thing.

A ship is always referred to as "she" because it costs so much to keep her in paint and powder.

Varies, Russian and at times Germans officially referred to warships at least as males although at least in the later case this doesn't seem to have penetrated to the rank and file. I can't speak for the Russians, but I would suspect the same. The true reason I suspect though is simply that sailors have been vastly, overpoweringly male and, jokes aside, also overwhelming heterosexual for all of recorded history and separated for woman for months (even years in the old days) at a time it's a fairly natural reaction to assign female anthropomorphic characteristics to the inanimate object you're relying on to keep you alive during that period.

In Russia we're have 3 nouns for words "masculine, feminine, neuter".
Word ship means "Корабль" which is masculine or "Судно" which is neuter.

"Корабль" Он мой - Is a military warship, that's why for us ship usually a he.

"Судно" Оно моё - Is a floating structure which encompass everything that's float on water, is a it.

On feminine noun, we use it only when refer to boats "Лодка" - Она моя.

    Woah!?
Hey, you'd better watch out, Mogami. You'll crash into something, you know?
    Collision Block!
    ...thanks. With you here, I'm collision-free, aren't I?
Mogami (30) Married, mother of one. Stay-at-home wife. Likes going out to Haiku-writing gatherings. The haiku part is from Basho's famous haiku about the Mogami river
Mogami Curious about lots of things. Does she crash unintentionally into her classmates too?
