People have suggested that Takanami's looks were deliberately modeled on Myoukou's.
Takanami is one of the shortest-lived of all the destroyers, lasting less than 2 months, and only doing a couple escort missions of note before going down in a blaze of glory fighting a cruiser when her Tokyo Express run was intercepted. Myoukou was one of the ships she escorted.
Hence, it's suggested that like with Yahagi-Yamato, there's a modeling of the features a ship that's only famous for escorting a more famous ship upon that more famous ship.
