This is essentially a tribute to another tribute Chun-Li rides her Rad Bike with a Sweet Blanka Toy by somefield by somefield  I really wanted to do this because the original captured Chun Li as a character so well in a way not often seen but still very true - iconic, girly, bright and cheerful (and is that Blanka a reference to Street Fighter: The Later Years ? XD )  I've changed a few things in mine to suit the new context but overall keeping it in the same spirit. 

Generally, I wanted to create something similar to those vintage pinup posters because the original was just so classic and it was fitting that way.  The bike is based on a retro one I saw and the backdrop is based on an ancient water town in Shanghai called Zhujiajiao >> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhujiaji…

Really not making things easy for myself am I with the incorporation of the environment and everything now, eh?  Though I am formally trained in architecture, landscapes and buildings don't come to me as easily as people and animals for some reason.  I had a harder time doing the background than I did drawing Chun Li (I still struggle with her face); getting the perspective of her on her bike; drawing from several references to piece together the look of the bike I wanted and the dolls in the basket!  My perfectionism and OCD kicking in to new levels here lol
