You do realize that the human spine is perfectly able to bend enough to put the rib-cage near perpendictular to the pelvis and hold that position for several minutes without discomfort, right? There's nothing physics or anatomy bending about swiveling your torso, you do it everytime you look behind yourself without turning your feet fully back.
