I guess she set herself up for that pun. Although, I'm kind of curious as to the exact wording here.
As an English, it does sound like Aya is saying "Aya ya", but I guess the "ia" she was saying was subtly different. Moreso, Aya was able to readily tell the difference between Karen's "Ayaya" and what she said, but they both sound identical to me.
