despite Ada helping Vincent with his auto-destructive personality and influencing him to let go of his traumas and inner demons which had tormented him for all the series, in the end he was forced to leave Ada because he was aware that he would outlive her. Vincent declares himself dead after Sablier and watches Ada continue her life without him until she dies of old age. Basically, this is a "what-if".
