    yeah but hetero doesn't necessarily imply voluntary heterosexuality, it could very much apply to concepts of the unwilling variety, the "Everybody is Straight in Gensokyo" pool was made for voluntary heterosexuality, which is much tougher to come across than the "girls getting assaulted" Touhou pictures when it comes to men and women.

    It's just a poor alternative.

    There's also the fact that the hetero tag is flat-out forgotten or omitted on straight artworks, so the amount of straight art on the site may be larger than the numbers let on. Using the tag means one will actually miss out on straight stuff without the tag, which is another big minus this option brings forth, at least IMO.

    It was a really good thing that the pool 'Everybody Is Straight in Gensokyo' existed, since the shoujo-ai stuff greatly overshadows hetero works. Understandable, considering the franchise's cast composition, but I'd say the pool existed in the first place to highlight the comparatively few straight works.

    I agree; the current system is a very poor alternative, and I'd even make a case to have it return. I don't even know the main motivation behind the pool's deletion, anyway. Was that even given?

    That's where good tags *can* help but I agree that a pool does serve it's purpose, even if one could string a few different tags together to get a similar result. I never understand how hetero is applied since I see lots of h-scenes more so than other things that would be in the pool but it could just be me.
