Only if they haven't learned to control it. By the time they've reached adulthood it should be no problem for them to retain their human form. But I'm still kind of curious to know what would happen if Nagasumi were to attempt to have intercourse with San. If she reverts back to mermaid form in the middle of intercourse it may be unpleasant but at least she's not a shark. =P
