Why in the world are they transparent?

That's a very good question... Even more strange is how they get more transparent the more to the lower right of the picture they are.

It's so you can see more of that hot wall.

Apparently this was a limited bonus for volume 1 of the "Herz" season. It was a clear poster set that basically consisted of the background and 2 clear overlays. I assume scanning it (bright light) ended up making the background show up through the overlay more distinctly than it normally would.

I have the set and it's actually not just the light from scanning. Even in normal light they look that transparent. It was not a very well executed idea.

That's unfortunate, but at least it looks like someone managed to work around the problem.
