Given the fact that the Japanese automotive industry is, in many ways, comparable to the American automotive industry, I would expect mechanized infantry to be the norm rather than the exception in the JGSDF. Especially if they're operating under total warfare conditions as might be expected here.

It's already mentioned in an earlier installment that he was mechanized infantry (literally) post #2109091

That's not a Jeep, per se. Looks more like a Humvee (or the Toyota clone).
