Yes, you'd certainly be right - Because it had the same artist, the deceased (from Pokémon service) Mato! Now she was commissioned to draw somesort of a CYOA-type Book related to few first episodes, she drew that cover Satoshi/Ash and those characters, who btw gave us some onlook on romanisation of their names (Matis is quite a French name I was told, Melissa was originally an USaian, but they switched her nationality to French in Int English, wierd innit?) Now while I found this pic back on old Serebii thread linked in post (link to imageshack is still there, but user must activate premium account for it to be seen now I believe) I also other resolution available, saved from old /tr/ when level was much bigger :|. I have everything of that badly organised, but vcations is a good time to start moving it properly. Found it by an accident and never heard of that thing before in all honestly, you know that one manga “Pokémon BW: Good Partners” which was ONLY medium to show women (male not even saying) nipples? I was looking for pic of it after I've seen some such “kinky” stuff reposted on same /tr/, didn't saved so did a quick research for those and found them on Serebii, via reverse search too. Now there was also “Pokémon Pocket Monsters” which shown Pokémon (and even human) nudity, genitals to be specific…. Not a material for this site unfortunately!
I don't have bigger information about it unfortunately, I was only told that only original artwork is on the cover and this scanned page, and all the rest are just anime screenscaps with long text. But you can try searching, I believe original title in Japanese was even given on Serebii, but it's easy to just find first games (Red/Green, Blue and Yellow) manuals instead.
If I may ask, ar you perhaps a Pole or a Slav even? Your name certainly sounds like common spelling amongst us – This or Szczepan. Sorry for a bit of tl;dr, hope it will satisfy your curiosity.

If I may add main suppose of adding those was lack of excellent Mato’s artwork on this website in general, perhaps I’d could even put then on part with early Sugimori I personally adored for his style. Indeed they both likewise drew characters with simple black eyes, in many ways having similar style too. With Yamanoto’s replacement during the 3rd gen characters started having coloured eyes (something only anime had during 1st/2nd gen, and perhaps Dengeki Pikachu and whatever else could be based off anime), the protags after their names (or gen 1/2 characters names overall) which was based off such stuff from 4koma Comics, where Green had green eyes and Red had red eyes, "Redgy" is NOT an invention of Special. I wish someone scanned them all, also Origami Comics where Blue have appeared , her position being taken usually by Kasumi/Misty in gen 1 material. It’s a shame for me perfect backstory for her in newest anime season was TOTALLY WASTED, instead that forced pairing and shit with Y(vonne)/Serena was introduced :T. It’s so bad I want to puke everytime I see it, same for returning to old Musashi/Jessie and Kojirou/Jessie after great characters they had during Best Wishes (Season 1). Natural disasters again banned stuff in anime and ruined perhaps greatest season and arc in history, it’s so sad.
