Completely no idea what is the original source nor what sorta character it is supposed to represents, neither for its sex/gender.

Kakarda in Soviet military was that thing engraved on the ushanka/fur cap. It could be a Red Star, Soviet CoA, CoA or Symbol of the Eastern Bloc country or USSR Republic even I think, now modern day you see it with Russian Coat of Arms (Two-Headed Eagle with St. George slaying the Dragon on it, but without the Red Crest all of that is put on). Wasn’t sure about the spelling, because in Russian often the “o” bukva can be pronounced as an “a” bukva (бу́ква – a cyrillic letter), it depends on whether an “accent” is put over a letter (like the one over у – I have no idea how to access or put notabene, but not many people use it; sadly same for the “jo” letter “ё”, which makes it hilarious to look for outsiders when you write Simon as Семен)

Whilst the hat/cap is usually known just as ushanka I’ve seen it called “fur cap” or similarly in the Ragnarok Online back when the Moscovia region based off Russia (as first of such kind in those games, I guess – makes sense as most of Russia is in Asia and huge bunch in East Asia proper even 😆) was being introduced and new to rusRO, being ported to other servers just recently. Generally Canadians/“Canuks” are famed from something similar as sort of their “traditional hat ” so I’d like to keep the tag in that case, if we had some fanart of their stereotypical lumberjacks.
