I've been waiting for an Orchid Mantis inspired Pokemon, and we finally have one!

And it's not even bug type. For some reason.

There's a clever reason why though. The Orchid Mantis gets its name from mimicking the appearance of an orchid flower. Lurantis is the opposite: It's a plant mimicking the Mantis based on Orchids instead. It's a reverse-mimic, if such a thing were even possible.

So, this is a plant that disguises itself as a bug that disguises itself as a plant?.

I thought they just decided not to give it bug type because otherwise it'd be too close to Leavanny.

To be fair, there were a number of dual-typings that were unique for a time before something else came in to fill their role as well.
