They find it posh, I suppose. This is talking about "BBC" English, of course.
It's a little funny--Americans don't know much about British class structure, but they do know which British accents they're supposed to find intelligent and sophisticated and which ones are not.
So you could say that the way Americans feel about British accents is the same way the Brits themselves do, just a bit gauzier.
