Oh yeah, I remember seeing something like this in a manga called "Sumomomo Momomo" (chapter 3 for those who are interested to see).

I thought she was setting out milk-bottles as a gesture.

Those are Bottle Rockets (or maybe Torpedoes), she didn't know how to use them.
