    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 2113

She also invited the Shou-chan person and went to see it with her, by the way, but she probably won't get involved in the gag material, I think. :-)

Sometimes one finds these untranslated. It's truly a rare occurrence.

From what I can glean, before the movie's release, there were rumors that there was no way it could be any good. This appears to have stemmed from GuP's status as a late-night, niche-appeal TV anime, as well as the delay of the film's release for over a year at a time when many theatrical versions of TV anime shows were bombing. However, the quality of the visuals, sound, story tempo, and various narrative techniques used were far better than anticipated. So you have this intense variety of impressive aspects, plus the potential of overwhelming non-viewers with the series' specialized terminology and copious background material, both of which make the movie tricky to explain. All that, combined with the desire not to spoil anything, prompted the viewers to condense their thoughts down to that one phrase.

Thanks, Moonspeaker! To add to this: Apparently the meme started with the unexpected excellence of Mad Max: Fury Road (source: Nicopedia, Pixpedia). People went in expecting mindless B-grade popcorn fodder, and came out so impressed that they didn't know what else to say without spoiling it. So when the GuP movie exceeded expectations in a similar manner - well, see above.

Well, I saw Fury Road, so I get the feeling.

Survey wasn't posted so here goes nothing.

What makes you roar when watching?
    • Girls und Panzer
    • Initial D
    • Star Wars
    • Mad Max
    • Your Name

I'm still unsure about the survey question itself, but going from the poll choices, I assume it's something along the lines of what movie makes you go "HECK YEAH"

    Girls und Panzer.
Is there any particular karaoke equipment you're hoping to use?
    How was it?
I don't really know about it, so I'll leave that to you!
Oh, what are you going to go see?
Okay, I'll look for a place in Tachikawa, then.
But I'm going to see a movie, so I'd like to go after that.
