I was kinda scared this would end on a much sadder note.

I don't get it... Is Asashio purposefully neglecting going to the docks?
Why are her injuries not healing already over some extended period?

She's getting injured, getting praised, healing, then getting injured again.

"Get injured -> get loved!" makes for a scary and dangerous sequence of escalation.

Even if she's not overly getting injured on purpose, she's stuck in a feedback loop where taking excessive risks that result in frequent injury gets her the praise she's desperate to receive.
