    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 2461

    This happened about two years before the story about the starling. We'd gone out and then returned from a con, and it had dropped onto the veranda.

    We had that, but with a mouse in a trap in the attic. Dad was going to remove it, but came down in panic complaining about it moving around (He's a bit squemish).
    So mom had to go up and clean it out, turns out it was so filled with maggots the corpse looked like it was moving.

    Had worse. A stray cat had dragged in a fat rat in the garage. Thought it was dead, so went to sweep it out. Except it wasn't dead. It had three out of four of its feet in the grave; it was alive, but it was pretty chewed up and... insects were already chewing more bits of it. Yech.
