Looking through both his twitter and pixiv, i can see it actually. A similar thing happened to Bkub. Most artist who are into anime usually try to emulate what they see (AKA, Mainstream drawing) before they strike gold with a unique style they can call their own.
Bkub used to (actually he still does from time to time) draw like "normal" anime art, but now most people think of his deranged chibi drawings now when they hear/read his name.
