I don't know why the other guy got downvoted but this is the best comment I have ever seen. I literally can't stop laughing.
1.- because spanish is probably not welcome in an international english speaking page (spanish native speaker here) 2.- because his comment was borderline retarded with substance.
Okay, but why is that disliked? Is the site zeitgeist just generally hostile to it or does it somehow degrade other users’ experience?
I think it's likely a combination of timing and the comments not really adding anything of substance. I don't believe it's always a bad thing to reply to old comments, but there has to be a good reason for it. For example, pointing out how something changed over the years that's relevant to the conversation (like a cliffhanger series starting up again or some event related to a post in the "Hilarious in Hindsight" pool. Those are informative. But often, we get comments replying to conversations that ended 10 to 15 years ago (usually, the participants are long gone by then) just to say "yeah" or state the obvious.
In this case, mikado8686's comment is pretty late (almost a year), but it at least provides an explanation for the question above. Meanwhile, the two below that come in much later basically just complaining about how you can get downvoted for pretty much anything even though a reasonable explanation (commenting in Spanish) was already given.

Okay, thanks! I’ll keep that in mind when commenting from now on.
