You skipped about the part where the one who made the hole should have kicked the bucket as well when Mordred delivered the fatal blow amidst overwhelming odds, have not for one nitwit knight's refusal to return the holy sword to the Lady of the Lake that eventually had his King cursed by the same weapon the King used to have his/her shallow victory over Mordred.
