According to the artist commentary, she's playing the role of any generic American with a gun.

Makes me think of the stories where some poor person knocked on the wrong door at the wrong time only to end up dead cause the home owner was "scared for their lives" and opted to shoot for "self defense"

Yep, it's called a 'death flag'.

Frankly speaking, weren't all the US CVL in Taffy 3 doing that once the cruisers got in range? They've only got their peashooters (1 on each carrier, at that) as their only self-defense weapon. It's the equivalent of using that 9mm handgun to fend off an armored car.

Then, of course, there's White Plains and Choukai...

And yet in Florida it's legal to shoot paper targets in your backyard while facing out over a public waterway, and people have been injured in their homes by their neighbours shooting in their yards.

Also every once in a while some trick or treating kid gets shotgunned.
