Batman #50 variant
A variant cover to the wedding special of issue 50 of Batman for krscomics.com
For the embroidery, I worked off the general dress design by Joelle Jones, but because I could not find a way of making 100% sence of the details in relation to French lace embroidery, I figured I would take my own liberties with those finer embroidery patterns. Honestly, it was totally to try figure out. I spent hours and hours trying to work it out, just to start over and over and over... In the end I figured it out using 3-4 different French lace references.
The background sketches were each separately drawn on A5 paper, and then scanned and laid out. The layout was first digitally sketched out for easier compositional editing and then they were each printed out and traced using an LED light pad to make sure everything was exactly in the right place to fit together like a puzzle.
