    During the Kemono Friends broadcast marathon on niconico, Tatsuki said

    博士はひらがな、助手はカタカナがちょっと読める、とか考えてたような（嘘かも）

    I feel like I had the thought that Professor can read a bit of hiragana and Assistant can read a bit of katakana (this could be a lie)

    Also, in the d Anime Store interviews with the characters, Professor says "I can read them if they aren't difficult characters. But I can't read perfectly."
