    Also, is Mikasa a closet otaku with figurines in her room (or the other kind of otaku with model ships/tanks/planes everywhere)?

    Edit: Read the wiki, she has an extensive collection of model ships, as befits her RL counterpart's current status as a museum ship.

    Shanghai Manjuu, one of the game devs (the other being Xiamen Yongshi). Ayanami et al. are basically taking the piss at them (by insinuating that they would stoop as low as to steal a shipgirl's personal effects to flog for cash).

    A similar analogy would be Kancolle characters making fun of DMM's (usually using Imperial HQ as a stand-in) shady practices. Or TF2 characters poking fun at Valve's moneygrubbing tendencies.

    Added a note to the TN for the commentary to make it clear.
    (Thought it would be clear from the comic's credits/trademark, but I guess it can still be confusing.)

    It's only my guess, but I think that Manjuu may also refer to those cute yellow chicks running around the base, AL's variation of fairies. One such chick is used as a logo for Shanghai Manjuu, after all. But I have no proof of that, so it's only a guess.

    I think it's a very good guess considering how they appear in various skins/etc (one holds up Graf Zepplin's hat in her summer skin)

    You're right. Checked the JP wiki. Nothing is explicitly said, but the Manjuu furniture items feature the chicks prominently, and so does the Operation Manjuu event.
