I'd imagine so. I've heard of other mangaka complaining about characters they'd designed that had a lot of little details, like this girl's hair. Drawing them once or twice is okay, but for a recurring character, I reckon it gets tedious fast.

Comparing this strip to her first few appearances, I feel he's been smoothing out her hairstyle each time he draws her. The messy hair + glasses combo is what made me love her so much in the first place, but if simplifying her look is what it takes for him to draw her more, I'm all for it.
