At the least, it established that their unnamed kid's innocence and good nature brings out the best in people like Semiramis and Salter, who are still dangerous individuals on their own.

I think all this involvement of Semiramis and kid's kidnapping is Iri's set up is just to piss off JAlter for the hell of it. This card drop is a mere "compensation for the trouble".
