Some of the side stories dealt with it- notably, Ooi's origin had her fighting a Destroyer n land, with Kitakami jumping in for the coup de gras, and there was one with the submarines returning from a long journey and getting into combat along the way.

This side comic has also touched upon it rarely. Example which comes to mind is Maru-Yu doing Orel Cruising.

"Side comic"? 2-koma theater is about 4 times as long as any other comic pool, and has been going basically as long as Kouji's been doing KanColle comics. If this isn't the main comic, what is?

I consider it more of a side comic due to it basically being a gag series, whereas the others- aside from the fairy spinoff- tend to be more serious and story-based.

Honestly I enjoyed Kouji's stuff more when he included more girls.
